Invitation to Participate in the Art Project

“Geseke Sachlichkeit: The 2020s in Stone Blue”

A community-based still life painting project by Darryn Thomas Ansted

Dear Friends,

I warmly invite you to become part of my new art project in Geseke. With this project, I return to the still life genre and would like to borrow objects from the everyday lives of people in Geseke and the surrounding area.

Over the past few years, I have realized several artistic projects in Geseke: painting hands, depicting borrowed objects, and working from photographs that captured situations I experienced in the town. These works have shaped my perspective on Geseke and deepened my artistic engagement with the region.

Now I would like to realize a fourth project. I plan to create approximately ten paintings, each featuring one or two borrowed items. The project is expected to continue until October 2026.

If you would like to participate, I would be very grateful for your support.

How to Participate

If possible, please select up to three objects. If you only have one suitable item, that is also absolutely fine.

Particularly suitable are objects you enjoy looking at or that feel meaningful or visually present to you. Simple forms often work especially well in still life painting. Ideally, objects should be between 4 and 25 cm in size.

Please do not lend valuable or irreplaceable items. I handle all borrowed objects with great care; however, I cannot accept liability or provide compensation in the event of loss, damage, or theft.

The objects should ideally be available for up to six months, although in most cases I will only need them for two to four months. They will be ready for collection no later than November 2026. Collection is the responsibility of the lender.

The artistic execution lies entirely with me. This means that, depending on time, materials, and artistic direction, a particular object may not ultimately appear in a painting. In some cases, objects may also be combined with others to form a still life composition.

By participating, you agree that I may mention your name in connection with the project, for example in relation to the exhibition. If you prefer your name not to be associated with the object you lend, just let me know.

Objects may be dropped off to Heiko until June 3, 2026. Please send him a short message in advance. He will compile an inventory list and forward the items to me.

Exhibition and Auction

At the conclusion of the project, there will be a public exhibition celebrating the resulting artworks.

Visitors will have the opportunity to purchase the paintings if they wish, although the primary focus remains the creation of high-quality and engaging artworks.

The final exhibition is tentatively scheduled for September 2026 at Atelier Ansted. I will share the exact date as soon as it is confirmed. As a gesture of thanks for your support, you are warmly invited to the opening reception.

This year, the paintings will be offered for sale through an auction format. A bidding sheet will be placed beneath each painting so that visitors can record their bids. Any works remaining unsold after the auction will later be available at their standard retail price.
